About Goddess
Clothes of power
Making clothes and dressing people is an act of transformation. Like an actor that goes on stage and transforms the minute he performs, the same process everybody undergoes when he puts on a garment that gives him power.
In this way making clothes for people is a shamanistic act.
I enjoy most the moment when people look at themselfs in another way then before.
The main objective is to make strong, beautiful, nice clothes for women and a few models for men. Authentic clothes, not following other fashions, but visually very recognisible because of the use of a lot of handwork and own colour choices and fabrics.
All clothes are own design by Lies De Peuter.
Women
My favoutie image is that of a woman warrior.
It's hard to be a woman: you have to think as a man behave like a lady look like a young girl and work as a horse!
It sounds extreme, but it is very true that women in all cultures have to face these images put unto them. To realise these things in everyday life you need the right tools. That is why I makes clothes.
To empower women is what I am good at. Most of my clients are powerfull women and they need all the help they can get.
That is what i do.
The Tripple Goddess
The image of the devine feminine as a tripple deity has been the biggest inspiration for the Goddess clothes.
- The Maiden: a young woman who is a warrior for herself, clarity of mind, set on her goals in life, a fighter
- The Mother: a creator of life, a protector of all life forms
- The Matriarch: a wise woman, a transformator between this world and others, a shaman, she who walks between the worlds
This image of the Tripple Goddess has been clearly documented by Marija Gimbutas in The language of the Goddess and by the different groups of new witchcraft movements like the Goddess Reclaiming Movement of Starhawk and others.
Joseph Cambell, scientist in comparative mythology, has opened the road for links to other cultures where the divine feminine is still a powerfull image.
Tribal art
Tribal art in general is another very important inspiration. The use of prime symbols like spirals, concentric circles, paralel lines, dots, curls and old alphabets like runes are constant themes in the clothes.
Also the use of earth colours is a constant theme. Mainly the four pigments that have always been used in primitive art: black, white, yellow ocre and red earth who refer to the four elements and the four human races.
